FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here’s what confuses most people: content marketing is copywriting, but not all copywriting is content marketing

Scratching your head yet? Don’t. Think of it this way: Content marketing has a strategic element that copywriting doesn’t necessarily have. You could write an amazing article about a subject you’re passionate about. But if you want that article to deliver results—get published on a popular blog, let’s say, or drive traffic to your website—then you need to be strategic. You need to think about your goals, your target audience and what you want this article to deliver, now and in the future. And from there, you need to develop a strategy for both this article and the ways you’re going to support and enhance this article to reach your goals.

That’s content marketing —thinking about the BIG PICTURE surrounding everything from your website copy to your blog posts to the emails, articles and social media content you put out in the world. Because, together, that’s YOUR BRAND. And, together, every single piece of copy you send, share and socialize has the ability to bring in new readers, new followers and new buyers—IF you have the right strategy in place.

The big takeaway here This isn’t Field of Dreams. Just because you write something amazing—a killer homepage, an incredible blog post, a hilarious email—doesn’t necessarily mean the fans, friends and followers will come. You need a strategy in place before you put the proverbial pen to paper. That’s content marketing. It’s copywriting designed to PERFORM.

We work with a diverse group of clients, from Fortune 500 tech companies and global publishers to high velocity startups to freelancers, authors and entrepreneurs looking to elevate their brands. Our clients are collaborative, engaged and passionate about what they do, and our work focuses on bringing the very best of their unique brands to the surface through strategic content marketing, copywriting and creative development.
While our standards are sky-high, we aren’t magicians or mind readers, and we wholly subscribe to the “diamonds in, diamonds out” philosophy of content marketing. In other words, we expect our clients to come to the table READY. Don’t quite know your target audience yet? No problem, we can help. But we do expect you to tell us about your business, your vision and your goals. Don’t know what to blog about? We’ve got you covered but we do need concrete feedback on the topics and themes we propose so we can create an editorial calendar that’s in sync with your brand vision.

If you hate providing feedback but, still, expect every article, every landing page design and every logo to be 100% perfect from the very first draft, we’re probably not the agency for you. But if you’re a true collaborator who’s eager to work together on accelerating your brand, then we absolutely want to hear from you.
RRDA is a writers’ agency—we were founded by a writer and, first and foremost, every single one of us is a writer. But at the same time, we’ve worked hard to attract top global talent from all corners of the writing universe. Our team comes from some of the most prestigious publishers, agencies and brands in the world, including Conde Nast Publications, Meredith Corporation, Hearst Magazines, The New York Times, Grammarly, New York Magazine, PopSugar, P&G, Time Out New York and more.

Every member of our team has, at minimum, a decade of experience in their area—journalism, blogging, social media management, email marketing, SEO, brand development and more. These aren’t hired guns and these aren’t people with a late-night side hustle. We’re 100% committed to the success of YOUR BRAND from day one, and your team sticks with you for every project, every revision and everything that comes next.

Also unique: from the first call you’ll be assigned a dedicated project manager who will be your point of contact for everything. You’re coming to us to make your life easier, not to communicate with writers and editors and designers. With one point of contact, you’ll always know who to contact—and they’ll ensure you’re in-the know and that your projects are moving forward efficiently and effectively.
No two clients and no two projects are the same. However, we strive to follow a consistent workflow that keeps you in the-know while ensuring high-quality content and strategy delivered on-time and on-budget.

It all starts with a free 30-minute consultation. During that call, we’ll discuss you, your business and your content marketing and copywriting needs. Our goal is to understand exactly how we can best support YOU and answer any questions you have about RRDA and our process.

From there, we’ll provide a proposal within 24-48 hours. This proposal will include all elements we discussed with pricing and proposed timeline for you to review. We’re happy to answer any questions or schedule a follow-up call to review your proposal in more detail, and can revise, add or adjust as needed.

Once you’ve approved the proposal, we’ll schedule a kickoff call with your dedicated Project Manager and select members of the team. After your call is complete, we’ll dive in your PM will schedule any followups or interviews, request any necessary assets and set the wheels in motion agency-wide.

Your PM will be your point of contact for all aspects of every project— and your writing/creative team will stay with you on all aspects of all projects. This ensures your workflows are consistent and that your team becomes true experts on your business and your audience.
We get it, and we’re here to make your life as easy as possible (at least on the content end). During our preliminary call, we’ll discuss your business and the type of content marketing support you’re looking for. In some cases, we just need your brain your brand insights, campaign goals and input on things like desired tone or sites you like to read. In other cases, we may need the basics—your brand logo and images, for example, or information on specific products and services you offer.

Above all, though, we need your commitment to review and provide feedback on the content and concepts we share. Without your input, it’s hard for us to get it spot on, early on. The more feedback you can provide—and the more timely you can be in your review—the better we’ll understand and be able to act on exactly what you’re envisioning and deliver content that drives action…and makes you happy.
Our pricing varies based on a number of factors including the scope of work needed and the duration of the project. For example, if you’d like to tap our team to write 20 blog posts, we’re excited to do it—and we can give you a bulk rate for booking 20 posts. If you’d like us to write 20 blog posts per month, we can offer an even better per-post rate.

Most of our clients work on a monthly retainer system, spending $1,500 – $10,000 per month depending on their initial and ongoing content development needs.
Working with experienced content marketers will help you put your brand’s best face forward. The right copy, the right site and the right customer-facing blog posts, articles, emails and social content brings your unique value proposition forward and drives immediate, organic engagement and conversion.

By working with us, you’ll better target and convert more of your ideal clients, boosting not just your ROI today but, also, your long-term brand loyalty and customer advocacy—and, to us, that’s something you can’t put a price tag on.

During our initial call, we’re happy to discuss payment plans for largerscale projects. We also accept all major credit cards.
Some of our clients are AMAZING writers—we’d hire them in a second.

Ultimately, though, they come to us for one of two reasons: 1) they don’t like to write and/or 2) they realize their time is better spent building their business.

And in some cases, our clients wind up doing some of the writing. Sometimes they want to write this month’s founder’s letter or write about a personal experience they had and publish it on the blog. We’re all for it—and we’re here to help strategize, refine, edit, whatever. So if you love to write and don’t want to give it up 100%, we’re all about it— and we’re here to maximize your personal content, too.
Absolutely. Many people hire us to ghostwrite their blog posts, articles and books, or to simply enhance and improve what they’ve put down on paper. We love partnering with individuals and brands on collaborative projects like these. If that’s what you’re looking for, let’s talk.
As ghostwriters, we’re 100% behind the scenes. We’ll collaborate with you on your article, blog post, book or anything and you own the work exclusively. Our writers do not receive a byline or any royalties from this work—once your contract is paid in full, the work is yours.
You’d be surprised! We support more than 50 thought leaders right now, developing everything from blog posts and articles to speeches and keynotes to books, ebooks and more. They get 100% of the credit—it’s their name on the book jacket and their byline in the article.

Often, these thought leaders simply don’t have time to write for themselves. Through quick interviews with us via email, phone or video conference—or, for some, by recording voice memos—we collect the information we need plus insights on desired voice, tone and audience. From there, we get to work, developing content that syncs with the author’s end goals.

The results speak for themselves. Not only have we maintained 90% of these thought leaders for five-plus years, but the content we’ve developed for them has been published in Harvard Business Review, WSJ.com, AdAge, Entrepreneur, Forbes, Inc, Huffington Post, WWD, SocialTimes, Marketing Profs and more than 200 other global outlets.
During our initial call, we’ll learn more about your, your business, your audience and your objectives. Once engaged, we’ll start with a “discovery” period where we did into everything from competitive content to search and keywords to audience personas, all coming together with the information you provided.

The end result: a content marketing strategy that’s human—while, at the same time, being strategic and data driven. From there, we’ll develop a content strategy with an eye on refining that calendar over time, based on performance, analytics and anecdotal feedback.

During our initial call, we can talk more about our customized packages for launch brands and startups, which can include everything from a basic landing page to everything you need to launch your business. We’ve also helped new brands with content like investor pitch decks, grant proposals, beta products and more.
